Since April, the Hart Cluett Museum has acquired new collection items that highlight the diverse and unique history of Troy and Rensselaer County.

Of particular interest is a Victorian style ‘Crazy Quilt’ with a genealogical take. Acquired at the end of April, this quilt was finished on July 3rd, 2010 by B.P. Lettko and accompanying the quilt are the very materials that are seen copied on the fabric itself as well as descriptions for each fabric, image, and other decorations used.

Here’s an example of such descriptions:

“At the top left, sewn partially on black woven Waverly fabric and partially on gray satin and partially on pink satin is the business card of my maternal grandmother, Amelia Losee Betts, dated 1900. I framed the card with an open work, double eyelet and find chiffon frame, accented with tiny, clear crystal beads.”
